This granola is so addicting and so much cheaper to make than to buy. Thanks
to our chef at school (Jordan Hunsecker) for turning me on to home-made granola!
In a large bowl, mix:
a) 3 TSP of vanilla
b) 1 TSP of cinnamon
c) 1/3 cup of maple syrup
d) 1/3 cup of light brown sugar
e) 1/2 TsP of Salt
f) 3 TBS of canola oil
Stir in 5 cups of oats (not quick-cooking) into the bowl.
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and spread out granola.
Bake on 350 for 15-20 minutes – or until light brown in color.
Pour mixture back into the mixing bowl and add:
- Cut up 1 1/2 cups of any assortment dried fruits (apricots, cherries, raisins, apples, prunes) - Try a Bag of Mixed Dried Fruit
- ¼ cup of coconut, 1 TBS of honey and 1 TBS of Molasses (or 2 TBS of honey)
- Spread back on baking sheet and bake on 350 for another 15-20 minutes. Let it cool in the pan. Store in Ziploc bags leaving large chunks.
How Can the Kids Help?
- Pick out the dried fruit
- Mix all the ingredients
- Pour onto the tray
